What our clients say

Here is some feedback from our in-house clients:

"I'd just like to say thank you very much for the training you provided for us - it was excellent.  I really liked the way you made participants see things from the perspective of those who speak English as an additional language.  The mixture of activities - between theory and doing - was just right and kept us engaged for the whole day.  Our staff now have a great toolkit for dealing with customers who may have difficulties in communicating in English.  I also liked the fact that this complimented our previous customer service training and gave it an extra level.  Thanks once again!"
Steve Thom, Learning and Development Officer, Bath and North-East Somerset Council.

"Bedford Borough Council has a very ethnically diverse population and our frontline staff work with many different nationalities on a daily basis.    We want to support our staff to deliver the best possible service to our customers.  When we were looking to commission a course Chalmers & Byrne's Lowering Language Barriers was recommended to us.  It proved to be an excellent course and we have since commissioned further dates."
Lesley Greenslade, Learning and Development Advisor, Bedford Borough Council.

Although a lot of our work is around enforcement, we also use education to bring about change.  The course made me look again at how we communicate with our service users and in particular where we are communicating some very technical and legal issues with service-users who have mental health issues, learning disabilities and other disabilities.  We have looked at using pictures in the diary sheets we use for collecting evidence in noise statutory nuisance cases.  We have also started to revisit some of our standard letters and legal notices and applied the course's 10 steps for effective communication."
Annie Sparks, Environmental Health Manager, Brighton and Hove City Council.

"Clare spent time listening to the issues we faced, what we wanted from the training and the steps we had already taken to lower communication barriers.  As a result Clare designed a number of Lowering Language Barriers workshops tailored to our organisation.  130 of our frontline staff took part in these workshops.  96% rated their workshop as either 'excellent' or 'good', 89% stated the topics covered were beneficial either to them personally and/or to their role and 98% stated that Clare and Katy were knowledgeable about their subject."
Nicholas Rozee, Training Officer Crawley Borough Council.
